Hi I'm Maddie

I grew up in Houston, Texas. I moved around a lot as a kid. I go to BYU. And am serving a mission in Porto Portugal. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I love to run and compete. I completed my first half-marathon in September and plan to complete many more throughout my life. I have a passion for music. I love to sing. I was a member of the BYU Women's Chorus my sophomore year and loved every minute of it. I also enjoy playing piano and challenging myself to learn new pieces. It is a talent I would like to keep up for the rest of my life. In addition, I have developed a love for photography. Although, I am still a novice, I love to soak up all of the experience I can get. But most importantly, I love the Lord and my Savior Jesus Christ. They are my all. They are my reason for happiness. Because of them, I have my family and the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of the church because it is the only thing that brought me joy in the good times and the bad. I grew up as a member of the church. Both my parents were active all the way up until I was in middle school. Both of m parents decided that they didn't need the gospel in their lives anymore and left the church, leaving me and my 3 siblings to fend for ourselves spiritually. It wasn't until I realized how unhappy my parents had become and my entire family had become that I actively made a choice to become a Mormon. It took courage for my older sister and I to go to church alone, sometimes dragging our two little siblings along with us. But we saw the difference in our lives with the gospel. The gospel brought joy and peace back into our life that was missing. This gospel, the gospel of Jesus Christ, is for everyone and can help everyone. I am so grateful for it. It changed me. It changed my life forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many different ways. I love to share my beliefs and testimony through social media. I feel that it is important to share what you believe with as many people as possible. In addition to this, I have served in several different church leadership positions. I have been the President of my Young Women's class (An organization for youth girls from ages 12-18), a Youth Camp Leader, a music co-chair for our Youth in the entire Stake and a Youth Camp Director for my ward. Most recently, I have served as a pianist in the women's organization for women 18 and up, a ward missionary, and now a worker in the Houston Texas Temple. All of these callings have helped me to prepare to be a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Portugal Porto mission for 18 months. I will leave everything behind in about a month to go and serve the Lord.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Maddie
If we did not have a Savior, this life would be absolutely pointless. How would you feel if every single mistake you made, every fight you had, every wrong you made, every person you offended, every sin you committed, was permanent? Never to be erased. What if there was no way to change and start clean? That is what our world would be like without our Savior, Jesus Christ. He suffered agonizing pain, took upon Himself every single sin, trial, bad day, hardship, disease, sickness, temptation of every single person that ever lived, is living and will live on the earth. He suffered and died for YOU and for ME. So that we could start again. So that we could have a second chance. So that every mistake would not be permanent. Jesus Christ was essential in Heavenly Father's plan of happiness. Show more Show less
