Hi I'm Mitch

I'm from Utah. I served in the Philippines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have 1 brother and am very close with my extended family. We eat dinner together every Sunday night with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins if we can help it. I love ping-pong tournaments with my family, even though I normally am the loser. I like to play sports and music. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I speak Visaya and English.

Why I am a Mormon

I was a member of the church because that's what my parents taught me. However, I am a member of the church now because I have lived the teachings of the church and I know of myself that they are true. In the past, I questioned a lot of things about the church. I thought the laws were restrictive and "lame". I decided that I'd go to church because that was what my parents wanted but I sure wouldn't like it. As time went on, I started to become miserable and distanced from my family. They seemed so happy and I didn't know why. I hated myself for it because I thought I should be happy and I wasn't while living the way that I was. I felt so lost and alone. That's when I decided to try something I had been taught my whole life. I "exercise[d] a particle of faith," and decided to change my attitude about the church. That led me to start to read scriptures (for the first time without my family). That led me to actually start to pray and have a relationship with Heavenly Father. All of that led me to want to make more changes in my life because it felt so good to do these things. I didn't feel it physically, but the truth made itself manifest in my heart because I was willing to try something new for me. I gave my heart willingly and that was the time that I learned the truthfulness of the Gospel of Christ. One of my favorite verses of scripture would probably be in the New Testament in John chapter 7 verse 17 where Christ says: "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I know this is true because the peace I found through following Christ. He is the reason that I was able to come back to see the joys of living the gospel. I'm a Mormon because through Christ and His restored gospel I have found a better world than I ever knew before.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by helping those who stand in need of help. I lived my faith the past two years by serving as a full-time missionary in the Philippines. I also take Institute classes while attending college so I can continue learning about the gospel throughout the week.
