Hi I'm Eric

I grew up in Utah. I study geology. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was homeschooled until I went to college. I love Chemistry and Geology. My hobbies include reading, playing Magic: The Gathering, and anything outdoors (though canyoneering is probably my favorite thing to do outside). I worked at an awesome food business before going on a mission, and totally loved it, especially working in the dishroom or being a manager.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized into the Church because I knew it was the right thing to do and I'd been brought up in the Church. However, I didn't really care about improving or trying to become a good person. For some reason, I thought it would just happen. It didn't, and I ended up just going through the motions of an active member of the Church without it really effecting my heart a whole lot. I wasn't actually very happy in my life, but I didn't want to think I needed to change something. Then, when I was about 14, I finally realized that I needed to change and I started actually desiring to become who the Saviour wanted me to become. After that change of heart, I actually felt joy in my life on a regular basis for the first time. It took a lot of work and it wasn't much fun. I had to accept some things about myself so I could fix them that I didn't really want to. But that process, though it wasn't a whole lot of fun, is bringing me so much joy in the long run. I would be a miserable, obnoxious jerk without the gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement. With it, I'm almost always happy, even in situations where a lot of people can't figure out why I am.

How I live my faith

I have served as a leader in youth groups, organizing activities and trying to meet the needs of the other members. I try to live my standards at all times, even when around people who don't have the same standards. Right now, I'm on a mission for the Church so I can help others feel the same joy I have.
