Hi I'm Kenzie

I write music on the piano and guitar. I love to sing. I love to run. I have had Bells Palsy since I was three, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

When I was three I was diagnosed (for a lack of better words) with Bells Palsy. The doctors told my parents that this was a rare (for children) nerve/muscles weakness or paralysis on one side of the face and that it would go away with time. I am 18 years old and I still can't smile on one side. When I was younger I was bullied a lot because I looked different than the other kids. My parents took me from doctor to doctor. Although the movement has increased a little over time I still don't have full function of my left side. This has brought on many tears over the years as I wondered why it had to be me that had this trial. I blamed God for the longest time for making me look the way I did. I thought that because I couldn't smile on one side I would never get married and no one would love me. It was about 13 or 14 I realized that I was tired of being bitter towards something so simple. I started to realize that I didn't want to live my life with anger. I let go of it and began to truly think I was beautiful. Although this isn't something I asked for I am grateful for this trial. It has made me the woman I am today because of it. I am more compassionate and loving because of this trial and I am able to see people the way our Heavenly Father sees others. I love to smile. I can't get enough of it! I love writing music. There is nothing like making something sound beautiful! I love playing the piano and the guitar. I recently picked up playing the Uke and I continue to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

I am am Mormon because it brings happiness and joy into my life. Knowing I can have my family forever even after we die is something so comforting to me. I love my Savior. I could never repay him for his sacrifice on my behalf. I am grateful for everything that he has and will do for me. I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is true. If you aren't sure that it is, read it. I have a testimony of living prophets and apostles. I love this Gospel and everything that it does for me in my life. I couldn't imagine a life without it.

How I live my faith

I was FHE (family home evening) mom for a while. I was in charge of planing activities for the singles in my ward. I would help assign spiritual thoughts and treats. I have had many callings but my favorite has been being the FHE mom. I loved that calling because I think a lot of people forget that the gospel makes you happy! Being around people and uplifting each other even though we are all struggling with something is how Heavenly Father intended us to live. He loves us and he wants us to have JOY!
