Hi I'm Jean

I grew up in a large family on a farm. I am a wife, mother and grandmother. I have been a teacher and principal. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am very close to my three brothers and five sisters. This year our family Christmas party had over 150 people in attendance. I am blessed with a patient husband, five wonderful children and thirteen amazing grandchildren. We all live very close to each other so are together often. I love to learn and have been an elementary school teacher and a principal. I also love to read and write, but most of all I love to spend time with my family. I have recently retired and have received a call to serve a mission in New Zealand with my husband.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an active Mormon family, and as a child I just knew I should go to church. However, when I became a teenager, I needed to develop my own testimony and not rely on that of my family. I began to observe those around me and saw that the people who seemed truly happy were following Christ's teachings. I also discovered that when I prayed daily and followed the commandments, my days went better and I was happier. Over my life the church has provided me many opportunities to grow and serve others. Through this service, I have learned to love others because we are all children of a loving Father in Heaven. The church is the foundation of my life and every choice I make is based on those teachings I have learned.

How I live my faith

I try daily to make good choices and be a good example to those around me. I have had many callings in the church, teaching and leading the youth, women and children. These opportunities have helped me to develop talents and become a better person, as well as help others. One of my favorite positions was working with the very small children in the nursery. They taught me so much about loving everyone. I have been involved in many community activities working with the scouting program and 4H clubs. Before becoming a teacher, I spent many hours volunteering in my children's schools. I look forward to serving a mission with my husband for the next 18 months.
