Hi I'm Katie JoLane Larsen

I am at SUU on scholarship studying Biology Pre-Med. On Feb. 10th I will be on a mission in San Antonio, Texas speaking Spanish.

About Me

I am a college student down at Southern Utah University. I have a scholarship down there and am studying biology pre-med. I have received a call to serve an LDS mission in San Antonio, Texas speaking Spanish. When I come home from my mission I plan to study abroad or complete a humanitarian service abroad. My hobbies/interests include: writing, reading, playing board games, serving others, traveling, movies, being a Mormon, creativity, painting, lacrosse (I played in high school), volleyball (I played in high school), basketball (my family are fanatics) trying new things, and having adventures!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (a Mormon) because I have felt My Heavenly Father's love for me. Because of all of the blessings and guidance he has given me, I've done everything I can to follow him. I know that this church is HiS church. I know that everything taught in this gospel on leads to my eternal safety and happiness. When I was an athlete in high school the Word of Wisdom helped me to keep my body healthy and free from addictions so that I could be at my top performance. I know that my Father in Heaven knows more than I do and has more wisdom,so I try to follow his commandments (not only because I want to show that I love and respect him back). At a time in my life when I felt so alone, when I felt like no one cared, and that I didn't have any friends I would cry myself to sleep. I began to beg for comfort and peace in tears every night to God and every night I would start to feel this peace and warmth fill my entire body. It felt like this went on forever and then finally at a camp I said such a sincere prayer to him asking for this pain to stop. He answered my prayer and I haven't felt those deep emotions of pain in years. If he didn't care he wouldn't have helped me. I love my Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ (my Savior). Our savior made it possible for us to repent and become clean again so that we could return to live with God again. I have the opportunity to be with my family forever! I have read the Book of Mormon and besides the peace I get from it I have found real world answers to my problems within it. Because I know if it's truth I know that Joseph Smoth was called of God and is a true prophet who brought back the gospel. After learning and feeling all of this truth of the gospel and being part of an amazing ward family I cannot deny that I am where I am supposed to be and doing the things that will bring me eternal happiness. Who doesn't want to be happy.

How I live my faith

I have held many callings such as being a counselor, a secretary, and a president of my young women's group. I recently had the opportunity to serve as the youth family historian of my ward. With my ward I have been able to attend the temple on many occasions, participate in multiple food drives, attend an old folks home and visit some amazing ladies, complete service and personal development projects from the personal progress booklet. I soon will be serving an lds mission in Texas for 18 months to teach others about the gospel of Christ, teach them of God's unlimited love for them, help them realize their purpose here on earth, and help them learn about how they can be with their families forever in this life and the next.
