Hi I'm Alexa

I grew up in Oregon and am now a student at BYU Hawaii. I love my family, adventures, and playing basketball. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a student at BYU Hawaii and I am nearly finished with my second semester of school! I enjoy earth and environmental sciences and hope to continue my studies in that field. I grew up in Bend, Oregon where I developed a love for the outdoors and for adventure. Living in Hawaii has only made me love it more! I am really tall and I love cats and playing basketball! I have a passion for discovery, culture, and learning and I hope that throughout my life I will be able to continue to pursue my dreams and grow in the process. I have a wonderful family who has taught me and loved me since day one! I have close relationships with each of my individual family members and am grateful for a close extended family as well. I love the things that they teach me and that I continue to learn from them. I love exploring life with them and am thankful that we can spend forever together!

Why I am a Mormon

While I grew up as a member of the church, I was never one to go to church just because my parents told me to. I realized while I was still in middle school that I needed to know for myself that the church was true instead of just taking everyones word for it. In the years since, I have been able to develop a deep testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I can now say that I know without a doubt that this church is true! I am a Mormon because I know with my whole heart that this is the one place where I can find everlasting peace and limitless happiness. I am a Mormon because I have seen numberless blessings in my life that encourage me to continue to follow His gospel. I am a Mormon because it gives me true purpose and knowledge of who I am and want to become. I am a Mormon because it gives me JOY!

How I live my faith

I try my very best to live my faith in everything I do! To me, faith is not just something for Sundays and church, but is something that reaches out to all aspects of my life. I have lived my faith by serving in many callings in youth organizations and my local congregation. I have had the opportunity to organize activities for the youth, been a leader for young women's groups, and a family history coordinator! I have loved serving those around me and the chance I have had to learn from them. On a daily basis, I do my best to study my scriptures and offer personal prayers. I have found that these actions bring me closer to my Savior, Jesus Christ and help me better understand my purpose in this world. I live my faith by preparing to go on an 18 month mission to the Dominican Republic where I will serve and teach the gospel in the Spanish language! I am so looking forward to my experiences there. I already feel so much love for the beautiful people of the Dominican Republic and cannot wait to get to work!
