Hi I'm Hyrum Johansson

I am a basketball player and a musician. My dad is Tongan/Swedish and my mum is Samoan/Canadian. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like playing Basketball. It has always been my favorite sport. I like playing and listening to music. I like listening to hip-hop, reggae, pop, jazz, funk, rap and instrumentals. I can play the piano, drums, ukulele, trombone and I like playing the bass guitar. I like to have a lot of fun in everything I do. I collect martial arts films. I like to watch martial arts films every now and again. I like to watch films with friends and family. I like being around people and getting to know people for who they really are.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 8 years old. I had been going to church since I was born. I had been going to church because it was something my family did and I never truly understood why I went, but I always felt good when I went to church. Throughout my teenage years I knew that the church was true. I received an intellectual witness. Everything made sense to me. What I had not received was a spiritual witness. I had never read the Book of Mormon by myself to find out if everything I learnt is true. I decided one day that I would not cheat myself and read the book. I began to read one chapter a day. In the Introduction to the Book of Mormon a promise is given. The promise there told me that if I read the Book of Mormon and prayed with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, I would receive an answer. As I had finished the book I began to pray to know if it was true. I had to pray with a sincere heart, with real intent and have faith in Christ (Moroni 10:4) As I began my prayer and I honestly asked God if the accounts in the Book of Mormon were true, I received my answer, Hyrum you know it is true. I do know it is true. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has blessed my life far beyond what I could ever expect, comprehend or imagine. I have learnt many things and I continue to learn. If you want to know if the Book of Mormon is true and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christs church the promise is given and the promise is sure.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example of Jesus Christ to the best of my ability each and every day (1 Timothy 4:12) I do what I can to help those around me. In the ward (congregation) that I attend whenever I am asked to do something by the leaders and members of the ward I do what they ask willingly. By doing so I show how much I love and care for those that God has placed in my life. When those that are teaching need my help in any way I don't know what to do but I go with a willing heart and a willing mind. I play the piano in meetings when I am needed. I do the best I can by becoming like Jesus Christ by developing Christ-like attributes such as faith, hope, charity, love, virtue, knowledge, patience, humility, diligence and obedience. If I see someone struggling I do my best to help them. If someone just needs someone to talk to I go and talk with them, not at them. Jesus Christ is the example of how we should live our lives. The Gospel of Jesus Christ has improved the quality of my life and helps me deal with the problems and challenges that we all face in life. I don't know who needs my help but when I am needed I am spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically prepared.
