Hi I'm Maddie

I'm a small-town girl and a big-time nerd. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a small town girl. I'm a full-blown Harry Potter, Doctor Who, and Star Wars nerd. I love to read and spend time with my family - I've been an aunt since I was six months old and I'm up to twelve nieces and nephews. I love math and am studying to be a high school math teacher.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church. I've always attended and been very active. My siblings, however, weren't always so active. I've seen a lot of mistakes made that led to a lot of grief and sadness in our family. As I grew up, I realized that that heartache came from my family members turning away from God. I knew then that I didn't want to follow that path. I wanted to know for myself that I was doing what God wanted me to do. So, I decided to follow the advice I'd heard from my church teachers since I was a child. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to my Heavenly Father, asking if it was true. I felt the Spirit testify to me that it was. I knew that everything the book taught me was true. I knew that Heavenly Father loves me and has a plan for me, and that He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins so that I could return to live with them someday. I'm grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made for me. He loves me and every person on the earth. I know that if I follow Him, I will be happy, in this life and eternally in the life to come. After seeing both sides, I know that following God is the only way to be truly happy.

How I live my faith

When I came home for the summer from college, I taught a Sunday School class with my mom to fifteen rowdy 8-year-old children. It was a challenge, but it sure was a lot of fun. They taught me more than I taught them, I think. Their faith was so simple and it made me want to better follow Jesus Christ. I am now a full-time missionary for the Church. For the next 18 months, I will be living in Italy, away from my family, working 16 hours a day to invite others to come unto Jesus Christ. It will be difficult, but I know "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Phillipians 4:13).
