Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a full-time mom to 5 children, including one adopted daughter and a child with complex congenital heart defects. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My five children are my main hobbies. I love being a full-time mom, even though it is very challenging at times! I also enjoy clogging, reading, hiking, teaching a co-op preschool, and helping at my children's schools.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a home where my parents were Mormons. I'm still a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints today because I figured out for myself that what they taught me as a child is true--even when trials come. My 4th child was born with a life-threatening heart condition. Her diagnosis was devastating to our family! Throughout the weeks she was in the hospital, my husband and I turned to the Lord for peace and strength. We found comfort in the knowledge that, no matter what God's plan was for our little one, our family could be together forever. My daughter is now 7. She still has her challenges. I don't know what will happen in the years ahead. I do know, however, that God knows her needs and mine. The Gospel of Jesus Christ brings me hope and happiness in the face of uncertainty. I know the Savior lives, and because He lives, we will all live again after this life. My daughter will one day have a perfect heart! This knowledge gets me through difficult times!

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to work with 25 girls ages 12-18 as part of my church assignment right now. I help organize mid-week youth activities and teach Sunday lessons. We just completed a 100-day kindness challenge. During this time, the girls and leaders all focused on doing an act of service each day. I loved hearing the girls' stories about how they helped others! I feel they teach me much more than I teach them!
