Hi I'm Colbi

I am a mother of 4. I homeschool. I like music and doing things naturally. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 and I home-school. I seem to like to do many things at home. I had my third baby at home and plan to have my fourth at home. This has been a great experience for me. I learned about eating real food a little over a year ago. It has been a great way for my family to be healthier. This way of eating means that I prepare as much of our food as possible at home. It can be challenging, but has been a big blessing for our family. I love music. I have played several instruments and hope to one day learn them all. I also like to bike. I would rather bike than drive a car. This is not always possible with a family, living in a cooler climate area, but we have gotten equipment to bike in the warmer months. Sometimes we will go a full week without needing to use a car.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the LDS church so I grew up learning the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. My parents stressed the importance of my learning for myself and making a choice if this gospel was true. I read the Book of Mormon as a teen and had many experiences that led me to believe for myself that Jesus is the Christ. I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father. I never have to feel alone. He cares about me, my happiness, my goals and dreams, and how I can best serve others with my distinct talents. Learning for myself has strengthened me. I'm not following God's commandments because my parents said to or the prophet said to, I'm doing it because I know righteous choices will bring peace and joy to my life. The gospel gives me hope.

How I live my faith

I teach a sunday school class for 10 year old girls at church. This has helped me to learn more about Christ and his teachings. It has helped me to feel more connected to God as I study and pray to find out what He wants these girls to learn. He loves them and He loves me.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon temples? What goes on in Mormon temples?

The temple is a very sacred and special place. It is a place where mormons can go to feel peace. If we have prepared properly and are striving to follow the commandments we can feel peace there and focus better to receive answers to prayers. It is a place where we can more easily shut out the noise that constantly surrounds us, and not feel judged or ridiculed for the way we choose to live. We go to the temple to serve those who have died without the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. We perform ordinances such as baptism and eternal marriage promises for them. They are given the opportunity to choose for themselves if they want to accept these ordinances and promises. Giving this service helps members remember the promises they have made with God and keeps us focused on things that bring lasting happiness. The things we do there are not so much a secret as something personal that does not need to be shared with the world. If someone sincerely wants to know more about temple ordinances and covenants then they will pray to find out if this church is true and prepare properly to enter the temple. I am confident that anyone who sincerely prays and studies our doctrine will find that it is true and will in time be able to know all that God has in store for them. Show more Show less
