Hi I'm Jessie

I'm a teacher preparing to serve a mission in Kentucky. I'm a former inactive member. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Sandy, Utah. I have a bachelor's degree in political science. I am preparing to serve a full-time mission in Louisville, Kentucky. After my mission, I plan on getting a master's degree in social studies education. One of my greatest passions is teaching others. I have lived in Thailand for 5 months and taught English to kindergarten students at a bilingual school. I have also been an educator at a history museum in Boston, MA and at a zoo and a science museum in Utah. I am currently a substitute teacher to middle school and high school students.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, my parents divorced when I was nine years old and my family went inactive in the following years. Even as a child, I doubted that God had a plan for me. I only attended church off and on throughout my teenage years. I always sought to have a true and solid testimony of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, but spirituality never came easily to me. It was not until I was in college that I read the Book of Mormon for the first time. As I read the Book of Mormon, I felt an overwhelming feeling of God's love for me. I had to humbly ask of God for help in building my testimony. Even though it was hard at first and I felt like I didn't deserve it, God answered my prayer. I later received personal confirmation that the Church was true and I've never looked back! Everything that used to be so difficult came so easily to me once I let the Lord lift my burdens. I have witnessed first-hand the miracle of true conversion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others which is what Christ has taught. I strive to serve my family members and those in my community. I do my best to be an example to others. I'm a family history consultant in my YSA ward and my faith and testimony are continually strengthened as I learn what my relatives sacrificed for their faith. I'm preparing to leave on my mission and I cannot wait to share the Gospel with others. I know I am not perfect, but I know that as I serve, I come closer to Christ. I am very privileged to take part in the Lord's work with Him.
