Hi I'm Trent Christensen

I'm a small town kid from Utah, serving a mission in the Great Ohio Columbus Mission. I'm love being out doors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Utah and have lived there my whole life. I am the fourth out of five kids. I enjoy hunting, fishing, ATV's, dirt bikes, swimming, shooting guns, and just about every other out door activity as well as playing video games, watching movies, surfing the Internet, and reading good books. I really enjoy spending time with my family, no matter what it is we are doing, but especially when we are doing things on warm summer days. I am a Wrestler and played football in High School, both of which taught me a lot discipline, dedication, and determination. I'm currently serving a Full-time Proselyting mission in Columbus, Ohio, which is also the same mission my Dad served in some 30 years before me.

Why I am a Mormon

So when I was about 14 years old, both my grandmothers passed away and this really shook me. I kept going through the outward motions of going to church, but spiritually I had fallen away. This lead me to make choice and do things that drove me farther down into misery and unhappiness. I had become angry and unhappy with the world around me. Three years after my grandmothers passed away, both my grandfathers also passed on. This got me looking back into finding out for my self if God is really, if He really does care about me, and if He does still talk to men on earth today. Shortly after this my older brother returned from his mission in Santa Rosa, California. He noticed that I was angry and unhappy and one day he came to me and we talked for a while about life and his mission. He told me about what he had gone through and I came to realize he had been through similar things as I had and had come home from his mission changed into a more Christ like man. He example softened my heart enough for the Holy Spirit to touch my heart. I started then to prepare to serve a full-time mission. I didn't make large steps in repentance but my heart started to change. About a year later I was wrestling at the Utah 2A State Championships. I was in the semi final round and wrestled a kid and lost a very close match 3 to 2. I was deviated and went off the mat in tears. I sat down and sobbed for a while and through this whole time the same older brother sat beside my and just waited until I was ready. He encouraged me to keep going and I did just that and went on to take 3rd the next day (by the way the kid I lost to ended up taking first). This experience showed me the kind of love an older brother can have and helped me realized the love Jesus Christ has for me. I know that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and that through Him and His resurrection all will stand before God. I know that through Covenats made in holy temple that Families can be together for eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my Faith day to day. Since leaving on a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I've developed greater faith in my Savior as I've strived to reach out and share the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those with whom I would have normally just passed by. I'm naturally not a very socially out going person, but as a missionary I've been able to get out of my shell and help others come unto Christ, my social skills have emproved and I've gain greater self confidence. I've also come to know my Savior in a way that I've never known him before.

What is the First Vision?

Trent Christensen
The First Vision is exactly what it's name implies, it is the First time that God showed himself to the Prophet Joseph Smith. When Joseph was a boy he was looking for truth in the world. He looked to the churches of the day, but they all were teaching different doctrines out of the Bible. So he went to the Bible to find out what it said. He came to James 1:5, which reads, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally and upbraidth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph thought about this and came to the conclusion that he need to ask for him self. So he did just that. In the Spring of 1820 he went out to pray vocally to God. Joseph said of what happen next, "I kneeled down and began to offer up the desires of my heart to God. I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other: 'This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!'" I know that Joseph Smith truly did see God, the Eternal Father, and His Son, Jesus Christ. They told him to join none of the church because none of them had the authority from God to administer the covenants and ordinances that are necessary for salvation. Show more Show less
