Hi I'm Laney

I'm from Missouri, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live with family, go to college, and work at a department store. In my spare time, I watch movies, read, and help others in the community. Currently I am serving in the Arizona Scottsdale mission speaking Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church in high school. I was a little stubborn about it in the beginning, though. I attended church meetings on Sunday, I went to early morning seminary at 6:30am which is a scripture study class that meets before school, and I started reading the Book of Mormon. Honestly, I only wanted to know more about the Church when I first started doing all of those things, but I promised myself that if what I found was true, I would join the Church. It took me three months before I let myself listen to the Holy Spirit. One Sunday I prayed that only the truth would be taught in all of the lessons and talks given at church, and I went knowing that that is exactly what would happen. And, it happened just like that. I knew that my prayer was answered, so I couldn't deny any longer that the Church is the true Church of Jesus Christ. I started participating in the missionary discussions, and I joined the Church in November 2013.

How I live my faith

Our little group at church consists of young single adults--mostly college students--and a family who helps organize the group. We are always trying to involve other college students in our activities, even those who attend church but avoid the fun we plan for people our age! I teach Sunday school every other Sunday, and I usually teach a different class once a month. A friend from church and I also visit two other women in our group at least once month. We often have a gospel related lesson for them in order to help strengthen their faith in Christ, but sometimes we plan a girls night and strengthen friendships. Well, those are things I did a while ago. Now I am a full-time missionary for the Church! I'm serving in the Arizona Scottsdale mission Spanish speaking. Sisters in the Church serve for eighteen months if they have desire to do so.
