Hi I'm Joe Goodrich

I'm a Father, an engineer, a fly-fisherman, a grandfather and I'm a Mormnn

About Me

I grew up being nurtured by a loving mother, my father was taken from the family through a coal mining accident when I was 13. At 19 I served a 30 month full time mission in Italy. I returned home and studied Engineering at Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. I married a wonderful and spiritual young woman who has guided our family of 4 children with her love of the gospel. I was employed by Utah Power & Light Company and managed electrical power plants for a living in both Utah and Wyoming. I have now retired from full time employment and since have enjoyed serving missions both here at home and around the world. Together, JoAnn and I have been blessed to serve a full time mission as humanitarian missionaries in Egypt. We served as English teachers in Qingdao, China at Qingdao University through the BYU China Teachers Program. We have also been service missionaries in the Humanitarian Department at the church office building and as addiction recovery missionaries. What a wonderful blessing it has been in our lives to have had many life changing experiences through each of these opportunities.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed to have been raised in the Gospel and I am now experiencing the gospel in my life just as many of my forefathers did in the early days of the church. Their lives have blessed me through their dedication, sacrifice, and service. I have felt my Heavenly Father's loving arms around me in both times of need and times of joy. I am a Mormon because I know the gospel teachings to be of eternal truth and the only way by which I and those I love will be able to return to our Father's embrace. Jesus Christ is our savior and through His atonement each and every one of us here on the earth can experience eternal joy.

How I live my faith

The church has provided me with many service opportunities while my family was still young. Some of these positions were in a leadership roles helping others as well as myself grow spiritually. Each of the callings in some ways were specifically focused on the church youth. This gave me opportunities to spend quality time with my own children that I likely would not have done without those callings. Of most note would be extended outdoor adventures. These experiences provided a love for nature that each of my children now enjoy as well as having brought each of us closer to our Father in Heaven. Through my mission experiences I have come to know and witness our Father's deep love for each of his children wherever they may live or in what ever circumstances they may be living. The atonement can and does lift us all from life's challenges if we will but allow ourselves to have a change of heart towards Him.
