Hi I'm Scott

I am a retired forest ranger and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California, next to Disneyland. However, every summer I spent in SE Idaho on a potato farm. I graduated from BYU, then spent 39 years as a forest ranger for the US Forest Service. I am currently retired. My wife and I have just been called to serve a mission in Central America.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are real, that they live. I know that we are all His children and that He has provided us with a way to return and live with Him again. That way is the Gospel as set up and taught by Jesus Christ. He has restored His Church again in the latter days. That restored Church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know this to be true, the same way that Peter knew that Jesus was the Christ, through personal revelation (See Matt 16: 13-17). The Holy Ghost has testified to me that there are prophets on the earth today, that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ did appear to Joseph Smith to begin the restoration process of Christ's Church, and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have found great joy in serving in His kingdom and it brings me hope for a better future.

How I live my faith

I have tried to serve faithfully in the Church and community all my life. I served a mission in South America as a 19 year old where I really learned the joy of serving others. Since my mission, I have taught many classes, been a scout leader, gone on many camp-outs with the scouts and young women, and served as a Bishop. Each of these callings, which I believe came from the Lord through his local Priesthood leaders, have been wonderful experiences. I have tried to pattern my life after the Saviors, helping others, teaching correct principles, being honest, kind and forgiving others.
