Hi I'm Roy

I was born and raised in Utah. I am an accomplished wrestler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Roy, I am a wrestler. I have spent countless hours on a mat learning to work hard and that what you get out of something is what you put into it. I don't regret the hard times I went through in my sport and all my efforts have paid off. I have won National titles in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling. In 2013 I placed 9th in the Junior World Championships. When I return from my mission I will be serving in Kobe Japan I plan to wrestle in college. I have many opportunities to compete in the future and have goals of being an Olympic medalist. Every chance I get I love to spend time outdoors enjoying the blessings of nature. I love my family and enjoy simple times sharing smiles and memories with those that I love most.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. And as I got older I began to learn that the blessing of the Gospel were real. When I was studying my scriptures, praying and keeping the commandments my life went so much smoother. It wasn't always that life was easier but rather that dealing with challenges that arise became easier. And I could tell when there was a lack of Spirit and light in my life because I would feel empty like something was missing. And the gospel was what was missing, as soon as I would return to living the life I should my life would regain meaning and I would have hope and excitement for the future. My goals in life seem smaller and have less meaning when I am not living up to the gospel standards. But when I am every accomplishment big or small is fulfilling. Even though sometimes questions about the Church pop into my mind there has never really been a doubt in my mind that its true. The Holy Ghost has borne witness to me that this is the Church of God. I testify to you that these things are true and that you can find these things out for yourself by humbly asking our Heavenly Father to make it known unto you.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a two year full time mission in Kobe Japan. Before my mission every month I go out with a companion in my ward to do home teaching. We have a few families in our neighborhood that we go and visit with them. It is a chance to build bonds with neighbors, learn more about them and be able to share experiences from my life that can help strengthen them. We are helping hands when needed and supporting friends when times are tough. Home teaching has not only blessed the lives of those we teach from the support we offer but it has blessed and enriched my life as well. I have many times that I was able to learn and grow closer to those in my community from the visits that I would have not had the opportunity to do in daily life.
