Hi I'm Mica

College graduate, Traveler, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the type of person who can't seem to get enough of the outdoors. Maybe it's the vast beauties that are all around me, or the joy I find in discovering the mysteries of the world. Either way, the outdoors seem to speak to my soul and give me piece of mind.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because like many, I have sought for the truth. I was made known of this truth long after I was baptized into the church. I always felt that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true because there was never a doubt in my mind that it was wrong. Once I was older, I read through the Book of Mormon and the truthfulness of the book and the church was made known unto me. I didn't receive a life shaking answer like many say they have had, but as before when I was younger, I felt that they were true. This small whisper or quiet answer isn't what most people look for, but I know that it is with the simple and quiet answers that the Lord answers us. To me, it's his way of testing us to see if we are really seeking and listening for an answer. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the Book of Mormon are true without a doubt in my mind. They have brought me so much joy and happiness that I could never image for myself and I don't know what I would do without them in my life. I know that the Lord Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father love us each individually and that they know our needs even when we don't. I'm so grateful for this knowledge and I want others to find the same joy and happiness in their lives as well.

How I live my faith

Recently I've had the opportunity to work for the Outdoor Learning Center in Idaho. I was given many opportunities to help youth and adults gain not only a love for the outdoors, but a spiritual environment where they can discover who they are and how they can reach their true potential. I've also had opportunities to lead and teach both members and nonmembers of the gospel teachings through music and gospel lessons. I continue to live my faith daily by living and leading by example and helping my friends and family to do the same.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Not all Mormons are required to serve a mission, but a mission is strongly encouraged among all members of the Church who would love to serve our Savior Jesus Christ by sharing his gospel among the nations. It is highly encouraged of young men to serve a mission because they are not only given the opportunity to grow and mature, but young men are at times more able to serve in capacities that sisters cannot. Women are encouraged to start a family, but if they want to serve a mission their work is appreciated and they are able to teach in ways that the men cannot. Those who serve a mission are not paid to do so, each missionary pays their way so that they may serve and bring others unto the truth of the gospel. For me, it was never in my plans to serve a full time mission. For men a full time mission is 2 years and women it's 18 months. I had all these plans for my life to get married and start a family, but those things haven't happened for me yet. I have recently made the decision to serve a full time mission. I know that it isn't required of me and that a mission is completely voluntary, but I am so grateful to go out as a representative of Christ and for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

We can increase our faith in Jesus Christ by reading from the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It teaches of Christ, and we must have a desire to get to know Christ before our faith is increased in him. My faith has increased in Christ as I constantly read from the Book of Mormon and apply its teachings into my life. I've been able to gain a better relationship with Christ by striving to become more like him. As I continue to do this I have been able to draw nearer to Christ and again my faith has been strengthened in his reality and divinity. Show more Show less
