Hi I'm Kevin Islas

I grew up in Arizona, USA. I'm currently a missionary assigned to serve in Raleigh, North Carolina. Therefore, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I am done with my mission, I plan to continue my education to become a doctor or pharmacist; I have yet to decide between the two, but ever since I was little, I knew the medical field was for me. My hobbies include doing karate and watching and playing soccer. I also like playing other sports. I was a Boy Scout, so naturally I also enjoy camping, rifle shooting, rappelling, and other outdoor activities.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this is the one and only true church on the Earth. I know that the scriptures, including The Bible and The Book of Mormon, are the word of God and are a testament to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that following the teachings and example of Jesus Christ and keeping the commandments will bring blessings in this life and the next life. I know that the leaders of the church, whether they be general authorities such as the prophet or local authorities such as the bishop, are all called of God. I know that God has a plan for all of us, and if we follow His counsel we can return to Him. I know that on my mission, I will be preaching the true, restored gospel and inviting all to come unto Christ. This is my testimony and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Currently, I am serving a full-time, 2 year mission to preach the gospel in Raleigh, North Carolina. On my mission, I read the scriptures every day, teach others about our church and invite them to attend church and read the scriptures. In the past, I was President of the Deacon's quorum (group of 12-13 year olds in our ward) and the Teacher's quorum (group of 14-15 year olds in our ward). I was also 1st assistant to the Bishop in the Priest's quorum (group of 16-18 year olds). Serving the church in all of the positions I mentioned have helped strengthen my testimony of the church.
