Hi I'm Joshua Beacham

I'm from Houston Texas. I'm the 5th of 8 Children. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the middle child of a large family. Throughout my life I've always been very active, in high school I ran cross country and track and I like to play many sports in my free time. I am currently preparing to serve a full time mission in the Mozambique Maputo Mission, Portuguese speaking. My mother and father met while my father was serving his mission in the Missouri Independence Mission, so I have a very strong testimony of the importance of full time missionary service. When I return from my mission I will continue my college education at Brigham Young University.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have grown to love the power of the Atonement and the peace that it brings into my life. My life has been blessed by this Gospel and this Church. I have found that as I learn more principles and follow more commandments of the Gospel, I receive more blessing from our kind and loving Heavenly Father. I know that our Savior loves us and wants nothing more than for us to find the happiness that can only come from making and keeping sacred covenants with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Currently, my calling in the Church is to serve as a Full-Time Missionary in Mozambique. As a missionary, my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.

What does Mormonism teach regarding baptism?

Joshua Beacham
We believe that baptism is an essential ordinance needed to return to live with our Heavenly Father after our life on on Earth. We believe that baptism is essential for the remission of sins and that it is a commandment of God that we are baptized. Baptism by immersion (being fully submerged under water) and by proper Priesthood Authority, is the only way to fully fulfill this commandment from God. We also believe that infants have no need of baptism because they are innocent and cannot commit sin. We believe that we cannot be baptized until we reach the age of 8- the age of accountability.
