Hi I'm Sami Willes

I am a college student. I have been called to serve in the Portugal Lisbon Mission to share the gospel. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 19 years old and about to head out on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I just finished my first semester of college, and am looking forward to new adventures. I love to be outdoors, spend time with family and friends, and music is my escape.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have seen the truth of the gospel. I know how the gospel blesses people's lives, and I have felt that in my own. I know we have a Heavenly Father who loves us, and wants the best for us. I have a testimony of Jesus Christ, and that He died so we could repent and return to our Heavenly Father. I know God has a plan for each of us and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is His true church. I choose to live the commandments to show my gratitude and love for the Savior and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by dedicating myself to teaching the gospel to others. In my first semester of school I was a gospel teacher for my peers in our Sunday meetings, and now I will spend the next 18 months of my life sharing the gospel with others.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Sami Willes
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. While he is widely recognized and praised in our Church for restoring the gospel on the earth, we understand that he was a man just as we are. Everything He did was through the power of God, he was merely an instrument. Joseph Smith was an influential leader in our Church, but we do not worship him as we worship our God and Savior.
