Hi I'm Hoani

I grew up in Tahiti, French Polynesia. Yes, it's also known as "Paradise". I love physics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied in Tahiti until the end of High School. I then moved to Montreal - Quebec to study physics through Engineering, at Polytechnique School. I finished the first semester, and I starting to think that I wasn't where my Heavenly Father wanted me to be. I chose to listen to my parents and follow the example of Jesus Christ by serving a mission. I came back to Tahiti and worked for a bailiff for 6 months to try to fund my mission by myself. It didn't really work because I used pretty much all of my money hanging out with my friends... We, as mormons, also like to have fun in a good way. For example, we organize dances at the chapel, go on movies, at the beach, go surfing, fishing, hiking, etc. We just do it without alcohol or any other harmful substances ! I think it makes me appreciate friendships more fully, and I also never have to argue with my parents if I want to hang out with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because everything I learn from the gospel of Jesus Christ is for my own good. It is so simple, and it is a real source of happiness for me and my family. I know that this church is His. Why ? Simply because I prayed about it. Mormons do not try to convince people with any logic or theory that this church is true. The most beautiful thing about this message is that you can know that it's true for yourself, by praying sincerely to God, having faith that you will receive an answer. Our Heavenly Father is the most qualified person to tell you if this church is His Kingdom restored on Earth. I know that He loves us with a love that defy all description, for whether we did good or bad here. He cares about us, he truly does. He wants everybody to have the opportunity to hear His message. Because He's done so much for me, because I've felt His influence in my life, because I've felt His love for me when I needed it, I am currently serving a mission to show him my gratitude and my love for him. I just want to share how important it is to build a relationship with our Heavenly Father, to live a righteous life, and to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Living the gospel has brought so much happiness in my life, that it even made me want to serve in England, with such a miserable weather (sorry English people, I still love you). I know that there's nothing too hard, or impossible to do when you have a God by your side. As a missionary, and representative of Jesus Christ, I know that I'm weak alone. Thus, I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things.

How I live my faith

I pray often to my Heavenly Father. I do it to thank him for the many blessings He gives me every day, but also to open my heart to him, telling him about my trials, fears, and how much I need his help in my life. I've been blessed with answers to these prayers, whether it was a path to follow, comfort in hardships, or even just feeling an ounce of His great love for me. I also go to church every Sunday with my family. We worship our Heavenly Father by sharing His gospel with others, our experiences of how it helped us, and singing hymns. We also learn His word, during a total of three hours. I used to be the pianist for the congregation, and I also used to teach eight to eleven years old boys during the second hour at church. It really helped me because I've learnt to share the gospel with simplicity, and joyfully.
