Hi I'm Jillian Jarvis

I'm 16 years old, a red head, and I always smile. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to clog, play tennis, run, and compose piano music. I've been clogging since I was 6 years old. (Clogging is a type of dance, similar to tap, that is very high energy, requires a lot of coordination with arms and feet, and is danced in leather shoes with two taps on each end, and a split sole in the middle.) I've won many team, individual, and duet national titles in clogging. I play tennis for my high school team, and I enjoy running. This last summer I ran a 10K and am now working on running a Half Marathon this summer. I compose my own pieces of piano music. I love to make up piano songs, and I love to transpose other types of music into my own works. I've been doing this for a couple years, and I have shared some on youtube. I love to serve others. Even the simplest of things make the largest differences in peoples lives. I have 5 siblings and a brother in law. I have two wonderful parents that serve at each waking moment, and never cease to surprise me with their unconditional love for everyone around them. I was born under the everlasting covenant of marriage thanks to my parents, and have grown up loving, and learning the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be baptized when I was eight years old into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was baptized by immersion for the remission of sins, and then confirmed a member, and through priesthood power I received the Holy Ghost. He is a member of the God Head which consists of Jesus Christ, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost, all separate beings with divine purposes. The Holy Ghost helps me when I fall, guides me in my decision making, helps me to be happy, and testifies of truths. I became a member because through the power of the Holy Ghost, before I was baptized, I knew that this church is the only and true church upon the earth today, complete with the fullness of the Gospel. I know that the Prophet of the LDS church Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God, and leads and guides each of us in the right direction. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live. They love and teach us through their servants upon the earth today. I am one of their servants doing their work and sharing with others the light of Christ. I have received so many blessings through my service to the Lord. I go to his house often. The Temple of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the house of the Lord. I bring my own family names that I have found to the temple to be baptized. Family members that have passed beyond the grave and are now starting to learn of the truths, I am being baptized and confirmed for them because I want them to feel how I feel, and to know of the truths themselves. Whenever I go to the Lords House I know that he resides there and His angels are there. There is no feeling that can describe how amazing, great, happy, peaceful, and loving the temple is. I go there often to feel relief, to serve, to feel peace, and to have a reminder that I am a Daughter of a king! And that if I keep his commandments, and always remember His Son Jesus Christ, I may be able to receive eternal life. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am the president of my 14-15 year old young women's class. I strive to be the best example I can be to the girls in my class, and I love each of them dearly. I plan activities for the youth in my neighborhood. I've read the Book Of Mormon several times through, I love it dearly, and I know without a doubt that the words in that book are words of God, spoken through his prophets to teach us in these latter days to become like Christ. I pray always. Knowing that God can hear me, I pour my heart out to him with confusion, trials, faith, love, and hope that everything will work out. I know he loves me dearly, so much so that he gave His Only Begotten Son to be crucified for the sins of the world. I annotated the "Living Christ" (The testimony of the modern day Prophet and his counselors that testify of Christ and His life upon the earth.) It testifies of Christs matchless life, infinite virtue, and his great atoning sacrifice. And it states that no other person to live on the earth could have done what Christ did for all of us. He allowed us the privilege to dwell with our Father in Heaven again, if we repent. It testifies of His birth, His death in Gethsemane and on the cross, and His resurrection. I am reading the Old testament and pondering the olden day prophets teachings, and while doing so, praying unto Father in Heaven and asking if these things are true. These past couple months I have been reading in "Preach my Gospel" (An LDS missionaries guide on how to serve the best mission.) I have studied the Christlike attributes. Faith in Jesus Christ, Hope, Charity and Love, Virtue, Knowledge, Patience, Humility, Diligence, and Obedience. There are still so many other attributes of Christ, but if we start with one thing at a time it's a lot easier to comprehend and understand. Each week I read all about one of these attributes, I find a scripture that corresponds with it and ponder the words. I'm trying to become the child my Heavenly Father wants me to be.
