Hi I'm Tanner Okeson

I grew up in China. I love playing volleyball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Vancouver Canada speaking Mandarin. Words can't describe how excited I am to be serving a mission. Previously, I was studying accounting at Brigham Young University Idaho and I will continue my studies after my mission. For most of my life, I have lived outside of the United States for my Dad's work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church. I grew up learning all the Primary lessons and singing songs like "I Am a Child of God". For me, my testimony has grown over time. As I continuously study the scriptures, I am able to understand its teachings better. I know that this gospel is true, and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God.

How I live my faith

I live my religion through practice. While it may have been hard or difficult at times to do things like waking up and going to early morning seminary, I was able to grow and understand the scriptures better. In our church, we are given callings to help teach and serve others. At times, I have felt inadequate for some of my callings. Thinking that are so many other people in the ward or branch that understand the scriptures or lessons better than me, why should I have to stand up there and show my lack of knowledge? I believe the Lord does this to help me become better in those areas, be it teaching scriptures or playing the piano for sacrament meeting. He wants us to become better and gives us opportunities to do so; we just need to be willing to work.
