Hi I'm Benjamin Shu

I grew up in Hong Kong. I am now serving a mission in Toronto, Canada. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been a Mormon since I was born and have been studying in BYU in Utah for the past few months. I am currently serving a full time mission for Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Toronto, Canada. I love music, especially those that are spiritual and uplifting. Having learnt to play the piano since I was five, I enjoy playing LDS hymns and EFY (Especially for Youth) songs. I also enjoy sports, such as basketball and ping-pong.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in an LDS family and has been taught about the Book of Mormon and the doctrines of the church since I was small. When I attended seminary a few years ago (seminary is a class which young men and young women attend to learn about the holy scriptures of the church), my teacher invited each of us to pray for a testimony of the Book of Mormon. I kept reading and praying to ask whether this book is true for a period of six months. Even though I didn't receive an obvious answer talking to me, I realized a change in my heart after all these months. I found that I just couldn't deny the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon - I know that these are the words of God spoken through His prophets. Knowing that the Book of Mormon is true, I could further testify that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon with God's help. I know that this church is true. Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet. I know that if we read the Book of Mormon day by day we will certainly gain a testimony of it and it will guide every single one of us through our daily lives.

How I live my faith

Serving others is one of the things that I like most. While others benefit from your service, we are also able to better develop our strengths and talents. I really enjoy serving as a pianist during sacrament meeting (the weekly church meetings held on Sundays) and in various choirs of the church. Music brings along the Holy Spirit. It inspires. It brings peace. While I carry out these callings and tasks in the church, I myself also become a more delightful and uplifted person. Besides, I am currently serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sharing the gospel with people around the world lets them share the joy and blessings of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and His atonement. It brings happiness to my family and I know that it does the same for others too. It helps each of us, regardless of our age, our gender, our backgrounds, etc., through our trials and challenges. It is the way to true happiness!
