Hi I'm Ethan Landgraf

I grew up in Nuuanu. I will soon serve a mission in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a pretty average person from Hawaii. I like to eat, I like to go to the beach, stay active, and I love my family. Like I said before I'll be serving in the Quetzaltenango Mission of Guatemala where I will be sharing the joy and love I've been given with the Guatemalan people.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to search for proof and evidence that the Church was true and I thought I knew it.I built my testimony on how much sense the Book of Mormon made when compared to the Bible. What I didn't realize that my faith wasn't faith, instead it was supposed evidence. The Spirit is the only thing that can let us know the truth regarding faith. The role of the Holy Ghost is not just a source of comfort but a witness to testify of the truth of things when we are humble enough to listen. I hadn't sought after this witness until a friend of mine told me something," Often times people try to explain the gospel through physical evidence and try to academically piece the whole puzzle together. It is good to want know about the gospel but we cannot base our testimony off of what makes sense to us instead of receiving a witness from the Holy Ghost. There is a testimony in your head and your heart and the testimony in your heart is the more important of the two." That's when I decided to seek after my own witness and I became determined find it no matter how long it takes. In Ether 12:6 the prophet Moroni states, "ye receive no witness after the trial of your faith". From that point I tried to live by faith. While preparing for my mission I had a lot of opposition. I became bombarded with a lot: temptations, doubts, and something I can only describe as heart shattering thoughts. One day, despite my testimony all these feelings peaked and I felt lost.It came to the point that I was praying and begging for the doubts to leave because it seemed I couldn't hold on.All my doubts disappeared.I felt calm, happy, and overwhelmed. And there was just this overwhelming feeling of clarity and comfort and knowledge that I was going in the right direction and that the Book of Mormon, the words of the prophet, and the Church were true.I have received a witness. It might take minutes or a lifetime. But the wait is so worth it.The Spirit has witnessed to me the truth. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving to live a Christ centered life. In 2 Nephi 5:27, the prophet Nephi accounts: " And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness." This could be like a thesis statement for the church and this gospel. Christ was the perfect example for us. And I find so much peace in knowing that through his atonement we can be forgiven by the father and eventually return to his presence. I try to live each day better than the next. The purpose of life, why humans exist on Earth is basically to get better. And I think no matter what religious or philosophical background someone may have, that's something that everyone can relate to.
