Hi I'm Jacqueline

I'm from Utah. I'm 19 years old and I am serving in the Indonesia Jakarta Mission. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old and I am currently a freshman in college. I love to dance. Growing up I was on a studio dance team and I had the opportunity to be on my high school dance team as well. I love to perform and share my talents with others. Along with dancing, I also love to read (my favorite book is Harry Potter). My most cherished memories of free time is spent with my family. I love sitting the basement after a long day of school and work and watching reruns of old sitcom TV shows with my family. I also love to watch home videos my dad made of me and my sisters when we were kids. Recently, I have found a love and a desire to find information about my family members. The most helpful website I have found is the Church's website familysearch.org. It is fun to read their stories so I can understand my heritage and the lives of the people who made me who I am today.

Why I am a Mormon

As I live the gospel, I know I am a happier person. Every time I read my scriptures and attend church, I learn more and more about the Savior Jesus Christ and his teachings. I love that the church focuses so much on families. My family is the most important thing to me in this life. I know that through Christ and through the work done in LDS temples on the earth, everyone can be with their families again and for eternity. I know the Lord Jesus Christ loves his people everywhere. His love is unconditional. I know Heavenly Farther loves us because he sent his Only Begotten Son to atone for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane and on the Cross at Calvary. I know the Holy Ghost is sent to testify of truth and to give comfort and direction in times of trial. I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost when I have prayed for help and answers from the Lord. The gospel of Jesus Christ is everything to me, and I know that anyone who sincerely searches for the truth will find it in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I had the opportunity to serve in leadership roles among my age group starting when I was 12. I loved having activities on Wednesday nights where we could do service, learn new skills, or just have fun. I remember one activity where we helped bag frozen carrots at a local food bank. It didn't sound fun at first, but because of the fun people, we found ways to make it fun. We raced to see who could bag the most carrots the fastest, and sometimes the young men would get into a carrot throwing fight. I love that you can have fun while serving others and feeling the spirit from the Holy Ghost all at the same time. Since I am in college, I am currently attending a young single adult ward. It is awesome to go to church with those who are my own age. You can learn so much as you actively participate in teaching and serving your peers. During my first summer term, I served on the service committee. Now my calling is in the communications area of the ward, especially with social media. I am in charge of posting announcements to our wards Facebook group so members know of activities, devotionals, or any other events happening in our ward. There are so many callings unique to a young single adult ward. Even with 200 young people in the same ward, there are plenty of callings to go around so everyone has a chance to serve and participate. In October 2015, I decided to submit my application to serve as a missionary for the church. I have been assigned to serve in the Indonesia Jakarta Mission in the Indonesian Language. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a representative of Jesus Christ and to share with others the joy that comes from living the principles of the gospel.
