Hi I'm Charleen

I grew up in the Bay Area of California. I have always loved nature, and chocolate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother of 2 sons and grandmother of the 5 cutest, smartest grandchildren. I love being out in nature, going out to lunch with friends, visiting other areas of the US and doing different types of puzzles. I especially love being at and watching the ocean. We drive an electric car, have solar panels on our roof and we recycle almost everything! We have a beautiful English Springer Spaniel who is a bit crazy/wild.

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't raised as a Mormon when I was little but met a girlfriend who brought my mother, sister & myself back to church when I was 9 years old. I have had miracles in my life that I know where direct answers to my prayers. One day I have hit the worst depression of my life. I was in our recliner crying and just asking that someone would just come by to help. Within moments of my prayer, the missionaries showed up at my door and gave me a blessing. Another time I was having some health problems and received a blessing from my church leader & was told in that blessing that whatever I had, it would go away. When I got the diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, I asked the doctor what I had to do to get rid of it. He looked at me like I was nuts & explained I would never get rid of it & would end up wearing a bag in a few years. I have had more scans over the last 10+ years with no sign of the colitis. My son had drunk a whole bottle of alcohol and taken to the hospital. We received a call telling us to hurry because he wasn't going to survive. When we got to the hospital, we were told he would survive but have severe brain damage. After prayers for him, he fully recovered with no effects from the experience. I realize that not all prayers are answered with miracles, but there have been some important ones in my life that I cannot deny. I was inactive in the church for some years after my marriage but knew I had to come back. My life didn't feel complete without the LDS church and prayer. I have learned over the years that my prayers are heard and answered in amazing ways. I have learned that I am loved by my Heavenly Father. I know that I am one of His daughters and am grateful for that.

How I live my faith

When I am asked to do something, I always try to do my best. I love to be able to serve others as well as teach. When we lived on the northern California coast, I volunteered at a botanical gardens, was a docent at one of the state parks (teaching about whales and seals), and served as the leader of the church's children' organization. We moved to San Diego area for a year where I was a teacher in the women's group as well as being able to serve in the LDS temple there. Where we live now, I have served as a young girls' activity leader, volunteered at a food bank type of place for 2 days a week for 2 years. We moved here to help watch our grandchildren. I am currently the leader of the women' organization at church.
