Hi I'm Steve

I grew up in Oregon, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an Obama Democrat and a card-carrying member of the ACLU. My college degree is in communications/journalism, and my wife and I have three grown children. I have run 10 marathons. I play the accordion, although I currently have musician's cramp. I wrote and published a book in 1986.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I feel that a person can live a life that is pleasing to God in any church--or in no church at all--I believe that the Mormon Church is authorized of God and that a person has better prospects of getting close to Christ in it than in any other. I also believe that true religion unifies rather than divides, and that Christ moves closer to us as we move away from dogma and toward truth.

How I live my faith

My most frequent position in the church has been teacher of adults. I've held leadership positions, but my favorite job was pianist in the children's organization, which I've done twice. I served a full-time mission in Colombia and Venezuela.
