Hi I'm Jenna West

I am a small town country girl and local missionary serving in the Washington DC South Mission. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in Utah, and moved to northern Idaho in summer of 2009. I come from a divorced family, with 9 siblings total and wonderful, loving parents. Two brothers and two sisters on my dad's side, and four brothers and one sister on my mom's side. We never are lonely in my family! I am a college student at BYU-Idaho studying elementary education, and I love it! I breed Labrador Retrievers and love being able to raise puppies and prepare them for their new homes. Growing up, I have owned almost every pet you could imagine - guinea pigs, snakes, dogs, goats, chinchillas...anything that comes to mind, I have probably owned it! I have even caught wild squirrels and rabbits to try to keep as pets. I help my step dad train and sell Tennessee Walking Horses and Fox Trotters, and it is one of my favorite things to do. We do extreme riding in the mountains, tough terrain that most people would shy away from. Nature is one of my favorite places to be, and I never tire from taking pictures in nature. I love to listen to music and know how to play various instruments, currently my favorite is the guitar and ukulele.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I know Jesus Christ came to the earth to die for us so that we may return to our Father in Heaven. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that our loving Heavenly Father calls prophets to lead us in the world today, like our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson. Why would he call prophets in ancient times as mentioned in the Bible, but leave us to fend for ourselves in the world today? I strongly believe in the power of prayer, as it has blessed my life more times than I can count. You are a son or daughter of God, and He loves and watches over you. There is not one time when He isn't there for you! Matthew 7:7 "7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." James 1:5 says: "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Joseph Smith asked the same question in 1820, and he received an answer! He was called as a prophet to restore Christ's church once again on the earth, and to bring back the priesthood authority of God, or the power to act in God's name. That is why I am a Mormon and why I chose to serve a full-time mission - I want to share this glad message with others!!

How I live my faith

I have been a member of the LDS church my whole life, which has been an enormous blessing. I am a missionary serving in the Washington DC South Mission (Northern Virginia) called by God to teach His restored gospel, serve those around me, and bring joy to people's lives. I am not required to serve a mission for this church, but desire to serve and give others the opportunity to experience the same joy I have felt from the gospel and my relationship with our Heavenly Father. I strive to live by the standards of the church which might seem limiting at times, but I have learned that following these teachings has greatly blessed my life in the long run.
