Hi I'm Connor

I am serving a mission in Bakersfield, California. I love the outdoors. And I'm a Mormon

About Me

I graduated high school in 2015 and am serving a mission for the church in Bakersfield, California and the surrounding area. It is a great place to be! I love to read. I will read just about anything, but classic literature is the best. I played the tenor saxophone for a number of years, and I love to listen to and play music. I also love hiking and camping outdoors. Pennsylvania is great for that. I grew up in the Northeastern corner of Pennsylvania, but we moved down to Pittsburgh area when I was a teenager. I love history, and Pittsburgh is filled with it as well!

Why I am a Mormon

I really wondered if I should go on a mission, and to a larger degree, if I should even be involved in this church. I spent lots of time praying and reading scripture. I prayed more than I ever have in my life. One day I was pondering the gospel and the call to serve a mission, and I felt peace from God. I know what it is like to be calm, and to be happy, but I am personally incapable to replicating the feeling that I felt that day. It felt so good, and I knew a mission was the thing for me to go on, and in hand with that, that I should stay involved in the church. I spent lots of time studying and pondering the Book of Mormon, and have done so on the mission. Again, the Godly peace and tranquility that the Book of Mormon has is not made up, nor forced. I have entered into my studies some days angry at the world and myself, and will end with peace and love for my fellow men. I know for myself personally that the Bilbe and the Book or Mormon are the Word of God, that this is the Church of Jesus Christ again on the Earth, and that this gospel enables families to go through any difficulty or obstacle, and allows us to be united forever. This understanding is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I really try to keep my thoughts pure before anything else. I know that when I see the Savior, I don't want to remember all the bad things I thought about at that moment. I want to keep Him in mind at all times. I love to help people out whenever they need help. On a mission, I love random, spontaneous acts of help that we can do for people, like moving stuff, gardening, putting up gates, etc. I try to remember how the Savior would see people, and to love them as He would.
