Hi I'm Kiersten

I study microbiology. I love punk music. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love science, especially biological sciences, and I am constantly amazed by what I learn about the world around me. Punk music is my favorite and while some say that it is "screamo" or that it sounds angry to them I love how the music tends to have lyrics that mean something to me. I love to read and getting lost in a good book is one of my favorite things.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up within the church, I spent my whole life struggling with it. I was never really sure if I actually believed in it, or if I even wanted to be a part of it. I would spend my Sundays thinking, "What if this church isn't the true church? Should I even be a part of this church?" The answers to my questions did not come until I was a freshmen in high school. Although I did not believe in the church, I signed up to take a church centered class called seminary. I knew that it would make my mother happy, and I figured that maybe the class would help me to learn about the church I was in. I decided that I would really try to do all that was asked of my during this class, as well as pray to know if this church was true. For the first time in my life I was actually praying, I was reading my scriptures everyday--not the Book of Mormon, we were studying the Old Testament so I was reading that--, and I was paying close attention to what I was learning. It was a slow process, but piece by piece I began to see the truthfulness of the LDS church. I started to feel the Holy Ghost testifying of it's truth, and I started to see that all those little flaws that I saw about the church came from my own lack of understanding. Everything started to make sense, and I began to see how much sense the church made, how there were none of those little flaws in logic that I thought I had seen. I did not know that every part of the church was true, but I knew that a few pieces of it were true, and I held onto those little things that I knew while continuing in the church. Today I know that this church is true, I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that because God is the same yesterday, today, and forever we have a living prophet on the Earth today. I know that not only is the Book of Mormon true, but that the Bible also contains many important truths, but most importantly I know that our savoir Jesus Christ lives, and that he loves us.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, and to the Temple as often as I can. I read my scriptures and make sure to pray to my Heavenly Father every day.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Kiersten
Our bodies are called temples because they are sacred, just like temples. We were given bodies that are made in the image of our Heavenly Father, and these bodies are so important that gaining a body is part of the reason we are here on this earth! Our bodies are an incredible gift from our loving Heavenly Father, and by taking care of our bodies we show God that we appreciate this gift, as well as acknowledge their sacredness.
