Hi I'm Laura

I'm a Texan at heart. I'm an aspiring forensic scientist. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah, but was raised in Texas, so I've always considered myself a Texan. You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the girl! I've been a dancer for almost my entire life. I've taken classes in almost every style but my favorite will always be tap just because it's so fun. I was in colorguard in high school and loved every minute of it; being on a team, using my dance abilities, and learning crazy new skills and tricks with the flags, rifles, and sabres are memories I'll treasure forever. Now I'm in college planning to major in biology because I hope to pursue a career in forensic science. I'm pretty crafty and a bit of a perfectionist, but I also have the patience and problem solving skills to make a project turn out the way I want it to. I love reading dystopian teen fiction and learning about American history. I love my family and my crazy roommates. I'm pretty much just your everyday average girl!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family and raised as a Mormon, but I choose to stay a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I am not a perfect person. The gospel of Jesus Christ helps me become a better person by enabling me to overcome mistakes I've made and by allowing me to change my ways to God's ways. The gospel brings so much peace and light to my life and even though I'm nowhere near perfect and my family isn't perfect, because of the gospel I can hope that as I live according to God's laws and commandments and keep the covenants I have made with Him, I will receive eternal life with Him and my family. I am a Mormon because I know that Joseph Smith is a real prophet of God and that he restored Christ's true church to the earth through revelation and his unwavering faithfulness. I am a Mormon because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God just as much as the Bible is and that it contains the gospel plan that enables me to have hope for my progression. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ is my savior and that He loves me. I am a Mormon because I know that the gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith my serving as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am about to embark on my mission to the island of New Caledonia in the Pacific Ocean, where I will do my best to love and serve the people there as Christ would and share with them the amazing gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mormons are not required to serve missions. Missions are highly encouraged because we believe that God has commanded us to spread His gospel around the world. We serve out of a duty to God to follow His commandments and help God bring His great message to everyone who will listen. God's main desire is to bring immortality and eternal life to all men, and the gospel is the way to attain that. We serve missions because we know the gospel is true, we love it, and we want to share the happiness it brings to our lives with others so they can experience that joy and peace as well.
