Hi I'm Jolyn Kirkman

I love music, teaching, camping, BYU Football and being with my family. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I have many interests. Music has been a wonderful part of my life. I learned to play the Piano, Clarinet and Alto Saxophone. I also love to sing and have a goal to improve that talent by one day taking voice lessons. I love to camp with my family. I don't rough it by any means. My tent is on wheels. We love the beautiful mountains of Utah and try in spend as much time as we can there with our children. I love to teach.I have been a substitute teacher for many years. I didn't think it would be something I would enjoy but I love the light in a child's eyes when they understand something. I'm also an avid BYU fan. I love to watch the BYU football team and have had season tickets with my children and other family members for years. It's our favorite thing to do in the fall. I like other sports also but my love is football.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it brings meaning into my life. Through the atonement of Jesus Christ, I am able to go through the trails of mortality with peace. I'm not saying it has always been easy and there will be times in the future that are going to be difficult. That is all part of God's plan. With the help of Jesus Christ, even when things are very difficult we can find peace. I have had this happen in my life more than once. Our Father in Heaven has a plan for all of us. Mortality isn't going to be easy. That is what we are taught. We all have trials, everyone. I find peace when I pray and read the scriptures. I know that they are true teachings of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. He under the direction of our Heavenly Father, created this wonderful and beautiful earth that we live on. He came to earth as a babe and walked and talked with the poor and the needy. He healed them. He taught them. I believe that this church has the answers I'm seeking. I'm still learn and know that I will learn until the day I return to my heavenly home. I try and do the right things but often fall short as all mortal people do. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ, I can repent and try again. I do everyday. I love my Savior. I know he lives and someday I hope to be able to be with Him and our Father in Heaven again.

How I live my faith

I was raised a Mormon. It has always been a wonderful part of my life. I have served in many callings in the church. They have all been a great blessing to me. I've been able to teach the children through music. Also I have had the great privilege to serve many of the women in our neighbor. They greatest blessing has been organizing gifts and food for people who need a little extra help around the holidays. I've also had the pleasure of teaching in our youth programs and attending girls camp for many years.
