Hi I'm Tyler

I am an avid skier, BYUI student, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest of four children and I have lived in Idaho for most of my life. I am an avid skier, both snow and water. I love to go skiing at Pomerelle Mountain resort with friends and family. Me and my family will also go water skiing in the summer as a family. I am swimmer and swam all four years of high school. I went to state swim my sophomore through senior year and swam freestyle and breastroke. I am currently a student at BYU-Idaho and I absolutely love it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am am a Mormon because I know that this church is true. This church shows me the way to be truly happy, and a way that I can live with my family forever. I continue to follow the gospel because I want to follow the example of Jesus Christ and one day return to live with him and my family. The knowledge and peace that this gospel brings is irreplaceable by anything else on the planet. I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world and that because he died we can all repent, repentance truly brings peace and the knowledge that we can be forgiven of our sins can bring peace to anybody. I am so grateful for this church and I honestly don't know what I would do without it.

How I live my faith

At BYU-Idaho there are many ways to life my faith, my church calling is to be a indexing counselor, indexing is looking at old records and putting them on the computer so that people will be able to more easily find their ancestors. I help people learn how to index. I am also preparing to serve a two year mission in Cuernavaca, Mexico in January. I am super excited to go and am trying to learn spanish right now so that I will be able to speak with the people once I get down there.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

An analogy that helped me understand grace goes like this, Jesus has purchased us a bike, he only asks for a few coins from us which do not actually help pay for the bike but rather to help us appreciate it, value it, and use it correctly. The scriptures say "it is by grace we are saved, after all we can do." (2 Nephi 25:23) Notice the scripture does not say "because all we can do," we cannot earn our way into heaven even by doing our very best. The only way to salvation is through the grace of Jesus Christ. "Grace is getting something you don't deserve, and Mercy is not getting what you do deserve." Mercy is an attribute of God, he is merciful and it is through his grace that we are saved, not by his mercy. Show more Show less
