Hi I'm Destiny Ina

I am a missionary in the England London South Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

So I am the eldest of 3 siblings. I am the first on both sides, to go and serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A lot of my extended family aren't members of the church however I love them so dearly and they respect and am proud of the decisions I make. My family consists of my wonderful parents, myself, my brother Joi and my other brother Teaumata. We are a crazy family but it works out fine for me. So I completed high school, in Australia and then I went straight into University. From there I completed 1 year of my Bachelors in Psychology. Along the way I discovered that my Heavenly Father wanted me to serve a mission. So by the end of my second semester I found a job. I worked as an aquatic and recreation attendant in the pool and gym, working with the Australian Defense Force. I worked for a year and now I am currently on my mission serving in the England London South Mission. Funny how things work out. Would have never imagined to be in England but here I am and I love it!

Why I am a Mormon

As we grow up we rely heavily on our parents and trust them until we are able to stand on our own two feet. I was fortunate enough to experience my first conviction of the gospel when I was 14 years old. It has only ever grown since. I'm grateful for my mothers example the throughout my teenage years and her love for the Savior. As I have come to want and desire to know why she has such love for Jesus Christ, I have come to know him personally. Now I also, have that love and appreciation for him. Everything I have, everything I am, is because of him. Everyone faces hardship and has different challenges and obstacles which they are going through. Even members of the Church. Myself and my family included. But my favorite thing about the gospel is Jesus Christ. Despite our shortcomings he is able to aid and strengthen us when we need it most. Its not about what you have done, but what you will become and continue to become.

How I live my faith

I try to participate in as many things as possible. Whether they be community, church, school or workplace related events and programs. Growing up in the church I've done a lot of things such as community service, youth camps, to youth dances. I have had callings in the church previously and have been a family history teacher and a primary secretary. These callings have enabled me to learn talents and skills that I wouldn't otherwise have had the opportunity to learn. At school, Uni, or work I let all people know that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. All my close friends fully respect that and have been a wonderful and respectful influence throughout my years of growing up. I have had a few opportunities to share a little bit of what we believe, how we worship and who we worship. Every time it just makes me so happy to share things that I treasure so dearly. I find most of my friends have either a misconception or misunderstanding of the Church, in which I gladly correct them. I may not be perfect, but I always strive to radiate the gospel in my life by setting an example everywhere I go. People think that certain things we believe and practice as members of our church restricts us from enjoying life to the fullest. But I know for myself, because I live my faith in my life it blesses me even more.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Destiny Ina
For church I always wear my best clothes. My nicest, but not necessarily most expensive clothes. It was how I was taught as a child and it is something that is more than just what I've been taught. It is part of my lifestyle. I know that how I dress and look, reflects my inner commitment and love for God. I wear dresses or skirt and blouse combinations to church. My brothers however, wear their suits and sometimes I help them with their ties. We celebrate all holidays basically. Whether they be a cultural celebrations, especially because of my Polynesian background, family holidays and celebrations like birthdays or anniversaries or a Universal holiday such as Christmas or Easter. Honestly my favorite part of holidays is the big emphasis on food. When there is a celebration there is bound to be good food. For Christmas and Easter however, it is a time that is very important and meaningful to me. Before my mission I took these days for granted. Now I realize what big significance these days have and helps me to increase my love and appreciation more and more for my Savior, Jesus Christ. It really just about him and recognizing how through him we are able to have eternal life and return with our families to live with God again. Show more Show less
