Hi I'm Janae

I grew up in northern California. I like to play sports, draw, paint, and hang out with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am Janae. I have a twin brother and a younger sister. I am on my mission. I have been called to the Costa Rica San Jose East mission. I am very excited to go there and to teach people about the true gospel. It has brought me so much joy and I want others to feel that joy too. When I was 14 my dad died unexpectedly. It was a very sad time for my family, but we knew we would see him again because of our faith and knowledge of the Plan of Salvation. The Plan of Salvation is about where we came from, why we are here on Earth, and where we're going. Ever since I was 4 I have played sports. My dad taught me everything I know how to do. I played soccer, softball, and basketball until I got to high school, then i had to choose a sport to stick with. I chose softball. It was always fun playing softball. I love the rush of being up to bat and crushing the ball! Sports was the way my family did stuff together. It was super fun. My grandpa and dad decided to build us a baseball/softball field in our backyard. I loved walking out there and practicing with my family. It was frustrating at times when we practiced because I would make mistakes, and i wanted to do better. My dad's favorite saying was "I believe, you believe". This was always encouraging to me to do better. Church was always more important because it is what brought us the most joy. I love learning about the gospel and helping others understand the love Jesus and Heavenly Father have for everyone.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my mom and dad taught me these things since I was born. My dads mom and dad were both converts to the church. I am very thankful they decided to join the church. My moms mom and dad were members since birth as well. Many of my family members have chosen to stay in this faith. I have also chosen too as well. I know this church is true because i cannot deny the things I have felt about the truthfulness of it. The Holy Ghost is real. I can feel him. He comforts us, warns us, brings things to our remembrance, and bears witness of the truth of all things true. In the Book of Mormon in Moroni chapter 10 verse 3-5 it talks about asking(praying) for the truthfulness of anything and by the Holy Ghost we may know for ourselves what is true. I have asked and received an answer that this is the true church.

How I live my faith

Teaching people about the gospel is challenging at times, but it is fun to help them understand more about their Savior. I have participated in Mormon Helping Hands around my community by cleaning up parks, lakes, and high schools. As a ward we also do service for others in the ward who need help with anything. I have done gardening, caroling, chain sawing trees, moving families, and others have helped my family. When my dad died I could have lost faith, but i decided to keep going. I am thankful that my parents taught me the gospel when i was younger, so i would be strong during times of trial. I know Heavenly Father doesn't give us anything we can't handle. I choose to be happy and laugh. I have given talks in church since I was 12. It helped me in school for public speaking and I had the chance to share what I knew. Having faith is a process that doesn't end because we can always grow it. If something can grow, it can die. By not acting on our faith we can lose it. A testimony is very similar to this. It is what we believe and faith is believing without seeing. By sharing what we believe, others can believe too. The Holy Ghost testifies of the truthfulness of all things. On Tuesdays, the youth meet for what is called mutual and they work on church things. Sometimes, they play games, but all of it is fun. I used to be in the youth program, but now I am too old. I still go to the activities where they play games though because it's usually something like football.
