Hi I'm Tanner

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I love to run, sing, and serve others! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to run, I ran cross-country all through high-school and continue to enjoy it! I also love to both mountain and road bike. I love to sing, act, and just have fun! Musical theater has also always been really important to me and is still a big part of my life. I love music and the power that it has especially when it portrays a story on stage. I'll soon be attending college after serving a mission! I love hard work and hope to continue to better myself everyday through the Gospel and through serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon because I've come to know that this church is true through the Holy Ghost. Moroni promises us in the ending of the Book of Mormon that if we will pray in faith with a sincere heart, that we can know of the truth of all things by the power of the Holy Ghost. It is that wonderful promise that allows us to gain sure testimonies through exercising faith. I’m grateful for this promise and for the opportunity I had to act on it at a youth camp. My testimony has mostly come over the years through experiences with the Gospel and the Holy Ghost that have built upon each other to a firm knowledge that I now have of the Gospel, but I can recall when my testimony began changing from a strong belief to a firm knowledge through the power of the Holy Ghost. On one night we were reading Joseph Smith’s First Vision when God the Father and his son Jesus Christ appeared to him. As we finished reading as a group the leaders asked all the youth to go and find a quiet place to read the story again, ponder it, and then pray in faith and ask Heavenly Father if it were true. As I knelt on that campus beneath a pine tree that night, I prayed and asked to know if the Book of Mormon was true and if the 1st Vision really took place, and I received an answer of peaceful and profound truth through the Gift of the Holy Ghost, that it was true. The Gospel is about experiences, about the truth that we feel and the love and reality that we can find of our Heavenly Father through those experiences. Through mine I have come to the knowledge that God lives, that his son Jesus Christ overcame death and took upon himself the sins of the world, that the Book of Mormon is true, that Joseph Smith restored this church, and that President Monson leads it today. These things I know through the Gift of the Holy Ghost and through recognizing the blessings in my life as I seek to become a true disciple of my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Currently I am preparing to serve a mission and fulfill that wonderful calling. In my previous callings I helped organize the youth of our stake, or group of wards and congregations, together for conferences, activities, and lessons that helped them increase their faith. I also served teaching in the Primary and in many different service projects of all kinds for other people in my ward. I was able to be a home teaching companion with my dad as well and serve in that calling and help the families that we met with. It's always great to feel the love that God has for all his children through serving them.
