Hi I'm Joy

I was born and raised a Mormon. I am now retired and I enjoy doing Family Record Extraction and helping the Missionaries out.

About Me

I am a mother, grandmother, and retired teacher's aide. I love doing Family Search Indexing, Temple Work and helping the Missionaries out. My husband and I like to work on our house doing improvements, inside and out.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. I have stayed with it through my life because to me, it just makes sense. I believe that we have a living prophet and that our church has always had a living prophet just like when Christ was on the earth, so God's children could all have direction. It just makes sense to me God would not stop talking to his children and make it possible for us to learn of him and what he desires for us to do. I believe that Joseph Smith did indeed have a question about which church he should join and that he fervently prayed for an answer. In answer to his prayer, he saw the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ and was directed not to join any church, that he would be the instrument in which God and Jesus Christ would re-establish his church. I also believe he translated the Book of Mormon under God's direction and it is a testament of Jesus Christ. There are so many scriptures in the Book of Mormon that refer to the Bible scriptures. It is a testament of Jesus Christ to the people on the American continent. I have stayed with it too because I like the idea of families being together forever and want to work towards that goal.

How I live my faith

I organize visiting teaching for our ward, so all of our female members over 18 can be seen each month. I also compose and print the programs for our Sunday Sacrament Meeting. I am a chorister for the young Primary children who are 3-11 years of age, teaching them songs about our gospel and Jesus. I love being active with the Missionaries, having them over for dinners and going out with them occasionally teaching the gospel principles.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Heavenly Father has given you ways of coming to know him and that HE lives. He has sent his Son, his prophets and given us scriptures to learn of him. After you read the scriptures, you can pray to him and ask if they are true. You can pray to him anytime and tell him about your day, your concerns, your questions, anything that is on your mind. As you study the scriptures, you will find out the commandments he expects us to live and as you live the commandments, it will bring you closer to HIM. He has given us the best example of how to learn of HIM, and that is through HIS Son, Jesus Christ, who was our perfect example of how we need to be, and how we can become more like him and live like him. Through Jesus Christ, we will come to learn of our Father. Daily communication is needed to keep us on the right path. Show more Show less
