Hi I'm Jose Chavez

I grew up in El Paso. I dream of becoming a movie director and English teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a recent high-school graduate. I have played soccer since i was in about 5th grade, I've always had a love for art and have had at least one art class every year since 6th grade, and i have always loved reading and i am even currently writing my own novel. I will be leaving on my mission first and then going to college at BYU. I took college level courses with the IB program in high school and i always tried to make as many friends as possible. I love being outdoors and around other people but i also love just having some alone time and thinking or reading or just rejuvenating oneself from daily life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i know this gospel is true. I was born into this church, but i was not always a true member in it until i decided to find out for myself. The way i found out was the hard way. I deliberately sinned against everything i had been taught, and i tried to have all the "fun" that i thought i was missing out on. But when i started to become worse as a person and realized it through the words of love and pain from even my non-member friends, i realized that i was doing something wrong. I knelt and prayed to my Heavenly Father and said that i would try to live as He had always taught me to and see if it changed my life for the better as He promised. And it did, i was blessed in so many ways i cannot describe and i received a peace of myself and with others that only came by truly living as a disciple of Christ in His true gospel. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins and because of that, i was able to fix my mistakes and change to become a better son, friend and person. I know that Heavenly Father loves and knows each of us personally, will never forsake us, and always blesses us with things we don't even realize but we do need. I love my Father in Heaven and my brother, Jesus Christ and i love this gospel for the change it has brought into my life and the peaceful promises it has brought to me that have comforted my heart and soul form any questions i have.

How I live my faith

I have held positions of leadership in my youth groups while i was of the age. And once i turned 18, i was able to work with the younger children in cub scouts. I have done home teaching with each of my companions faithfully and willingly, because i know that visiting the members and less active of our ward creates a special bond of love as you show your love and care for them by going to them and trying to befriend them. I have organized both a Talent Show and a ward Halloween Party that have become annual traditions in my ward. These organizations were created to bring in friends and help others feel comfortable with us and to see that we live normal lives and still enjoy having fun while living the gospel.
