Hi I'm Lauren Allred

I grew up in Las Vegas. I film and play violin. I am a mormon.

About Me

I am an avid reader, film lover, and violinist. I am currently in my junior year of high school. I want to do many things when I grow up: be a missionary, major in history and teach at military bases, film, be a biochemist, work as an IT girl, and be a mom. I have the privilege to grow up in a Gospel centered home, however this doesn't guarantee a testimony. For a while, my testimony was based off those of my family and friends. The lessons they taught me helped me resist temptation through elementary school and middle school. It wasn't until my eighth grade year, I started questioning my testimony. I am grateful to my parents and friends for the principles and values they made relevant to me, but I needed to know for myself. I've a firm belief in this church, and it took a lot of praying and pondering. But through each step, the Holy Ghost manifested it's truth unto me. I felt a lightness of heart and recognized the constant grin on my face as I read and wrote. But when I go days without having something from the gospel library, or without writing down prompts from the spirit, my testimony weakens, subtly. King Benjamin quotes,"The natural man is an enemy to God, and has been since the fall of Adam." The spirit is what makes us a friend to God, but our spirit is nourished by our testimonies.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a mormon, because I believe that what it teaches, is true. It's that simple, the spirit testifies it's truth to me. We have been promised by one of our apostles, Boyd K. Packer, that no serious mistake that we make goes without the spirit warning us first. As I read the scriptures, write my thoughts, pray to know the truth, I get an answer to all my questions and comfort to all my fears. They may not come as soon as we would like, but as I said before, the natural man is an enemy to God. But when I have the spirit with me, I can hear all the quiet words of the spirit. Having the spirit is looking outwards, reaching out to others, and submitting our will to our Heavenly Father's will. I find refuge in this Gospel, I find truth. I know my Savior lives, and his love for me and all his brothers and sisters, and the love I have for him. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I live it, learn it, and love it.

How I live my faith

I do community services through a group called NHS(national honor society), we expand services to visiting rehabilitation centers, to christmas donations, food bank deliveries, and just writing positive notes to peers and teachers. My calling in this church, like all it's members, is to teach the Gospel.
