Hi I'm Joanne D.

I'm a life-long resident of Utah. I enjoyed a 30 + year career as an Elementary School Teacher. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love being a woman in this time of the Earth's history. I am a mom, grandma, and lots more to a growing family. After graduating from a local University, I used my love of children to teach in the public schools and also on Sundays at Church. I love animals - especially cats and horses, both of which have been a part of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed with a believing heart and faith that helps me endure in good times as well as hard times. That is one of the gifts of the Spirit we read about in the scriptures. I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who is the father of our Savior Jesus Christ, who also loves us and knows each of us personally, because we all lived in heaven before our lives here on Earth. Because of their love for us, the gospel and organization of the Church as it was at the time the Lord lived on earth has been restored. As in ancient times, we have living prophets and apostles who teach us what we need to know and do to be able to return to our heavenly home and Father. This knowledge gives me great peace and joy each day, and I want to be able to share the joy with each of my brothers and sisters I meet - that's YOU !

How I live my faith

Making a positive difference to others is important to me. I want to be a true under-shepherd to the Lord by being of service. I've volunteered as a school crossing guard and a reading tutor. I believe each citizen of our country should be involved in the political process and wisely choose leaders who possess integrity and wisdom, and know the proper limited role of government. As a member of the Church, I have served in many capacities: teaching young children, teenagers, and women to have faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement and how He would have us follow Him, and serving members with materials available in the meeting house library.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Joanne D.
It has been asked, "how often should I read the scriptures?" I agree with a wise person who responded, "only the days you need to eat! " I know that on the days I read and think about how the scriptures apply to me, that my day goes better and I can receive answers to prayers and questions I may have. I feel the love from my Heavenly Father and his son, Jesus Christ, as I read about how prophets have taught people to live so that they can receive blessings in this life and be able to return home to heaven to be with God again. The scriptures are like an instruction book for life! Show more Show less
