Hi I'm Neil Scott Myers

I am, and always will be, the optimist, the hoper of far-flung hopes, and dreamer of improbable dreams.

About Me

I was born in Southern Indiana. My parent were and are members and I was raised in the church. I was the only member in my school until I moved to Utah at age 11. In Indiana, my peers were too young to understand much religion so at no point was I called to defend my religion. When I moved to Utah, a place where a large percentage of the population is Mormon, a lot of things changed. I was the new kid, so at that age, of course I was bullied. So at that young age I learned very quickly how to rely on my Savior, without a very big knowledge of the gospel. Looking back now I realize how much Christ's hand was in my life and how much he helped me through all of my trials. I've played baseball and basketball all my life. In grade 7 I decided to play football because that was the popular thing to do and I thought it would stem the tide of bullying, I was right. I found that I had a special talent for catching and I quickly became the star wide receiver on the team. I played on the football team until my sophomore year in high school, when the team's values and mine became too distant for me to struggle against. I ran cross country after that. My family is built to run and I loved it very much. It teaches a lot about how to persevere and have diligence. I'm now preparing to serve my mission in L'viv, Ukraine. I want to join the military when I return and follow several other dreams.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because it is the only church that has the true gospel in its entirety. Jesus Christ is truly the Head of this church. His spirit resides in it and He established it. I have a deep love for The Savior, for his atonement, and his eternal love for me. I know that Christ lives and cares for each of us. He knows our weaknesses and experiences our trials with us. He knows you and wants to help you in every way He can. Our job is only to have the humility to let Him help and do what He commands.

How I live my faith

I love serving others. Throughout each day I'm constantly looking for people I can help. I try to set a good example in all that I do and also try to be humble in everything that I do. I'm not saying I'm an amazing person, I'm saying I have an amazing God and I try to let Him work through me as much as possible. One of my favorite things is home teaching. It's wonderful being able to go to the homes of members and teach them and get to know them more. It also allows them to have someone to call if they should need help with anything. I'm preparing to be a missionary, I have been preparing my whole life. I love to share the gospel and being able to do that full time will be a dream come true for me.
