Hi I'm Rex Yamamoto

Hi, I'm Rex Yamamoto, Am a missionary, I love making jokes, I love taking up challenges, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

My entire family are all japanese but we grew up in Provo, Utah so we're more American than we are japanese. I have a brother and two sisters and we get along pretty well. My hobbies are, soccer, swimming, now basketball and studying Church History. Am currently serving a mission in the Hawaiian islands and hopefully able to come back here in the Hawaii once again for college.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church when when I was a kid, but I never had a strong testimony of the Restored Gospel and eventually as I grew older, my belief towards the Church started to tear down and I started to not care how much this means to me anymore and because of that, my relationship towards my family started to tore apart. When I was around 14 years old, I pray for guidance and asked for help in those desperate times, but I felt nothing during those prayers so I gave up and thought God abandon me. I have not prayed to God since then. So, I live my life through depression and thinking there's no such thing as happiness in this world. I enter the mission field 3 months before my 19th birthday, and I struggle to talk to people and struggle in sharing the Restored Gospel. Feeling that same depression I had during those 5 years, I wanted to go home, my trainers, whom they were in charge of me, gave me the most, unforgettable counseling during those times of need and I thought for the first time in my life, there was a God and that He does answers prayer and that I was worth something in my life. For those who think they're not worth much or don't feel confident in themselves, I testify that there is a God that loves you, there is a God that wants you to be happy, there is a God that wants you to know that you are a child of God. Remember that.

How I live my faith

I do my best in living the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the scriptures and watching the movies the Church puts out for everyone to see and know for themselves who we "Mormons" are. One of the other reasons why I love the Church is because, There is so much happiness in this Church, and there's no place anywhere else that you can find but here and I feel the Savior's Love each day as I pray to Him for strength and for guidance in doing so, makes me want to help those who's needs this wonderful Gospel of Jesus Christ and help them receive the same happiness am having.
