Hi I'm Darla

I grew up in Idaho. My husband and I have raised eleven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother. I went to BYU in Provo where I met my husband. We have raised a family of 11 children, helping them with a desire to go to college, to be contributing adults to their communities, and to raise families of their own. I loved to be with my children and grandchildren. I love to serve in my neighborhood, and be able to reach out to people who I may be able to cheer and help.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church knowing that most of my grandparents and great grand parents were members of the church. My mother's mother did listen to the missionaries in England and was baptized in the early 1900's. She left her family to come to the United States, to marry and to raise her family in the church. Although she died before I was born, her testimony and sacrifice has always affected my life. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ and have always tried to teach our children to have a love for His gospel, our prophets, and the restoration. My testimony has grown as I have sent 6 sons on missions and watched as our children made choices to marry in the temple and raise their families in the gospel. I've come to learn that trials are OK and that they too are a part of life. Much of the growth in our lives comes as we learn to accept problems and changes in our lives and realize that blessings come in many ways.

How I live my faith

I love being a part of the community. I always tried to be involved in PTA and in things our children participated in when our family was growing up. I enjoy meeting with women in the community that sew blankets for foster children. I also head a Parkinson support group to help people with Parkinson Disease get together and learn more about their disease. I love helping and visiting with neighbors and friends in our community. I love working in different callings in the church. I've loved working with the youth, children, and women of the church. It is rewarding to consider my neighbors and members of our community as my friends!
