Hi I'm Jacob Van Dyken

I'M A TWIN! I grew up in Australia, Melbourne. I love long boarding, going to the beach and playing Basketball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 22 years old and I am serving in the England Manchester Mission as a missionary. I also have a twin brother who is serving in the Japan Tokyo South Mission. Well, I have 2 brothers and 1 sister and I love them a lot, oh and also my parents! I am a builder and love to do Carpentry. I love to hang out with my friends and go long boarding. Particularly at the beach! Road trips are always good! Get me some chocolate and i'll be a happy man. I like playing the guitar and singing. I also like to learn new things! Technology is also a big one, love seeing all the tech gear that is coming out.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love how much The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helps me in my every day life. It helps me when I have a hard decision to make or when I am going through a tough situation at work or in life. I can then pray to my Heavenly Father for strength and he helps me through that situation with comfort and peace. My parents have always been active and have done a solid job in raising me up! I think one of the turning points in my life was when I felt like I didn't need to serve my mission. I thought it was such a big decision in my life to give up two years when I could finish my studies instead. So this pondered on my mind for quite a while, and I came up with the decision of not wanting to go at all. Time passed and I finally decided to really ask our Heavenly Father in prayer. I knelt and prayed so hard for an answer. As soon as I finished my prayer, it hit me. A feeling that was of comfort and love. I knew that I had to serve my mission. So that families and individuals like myself could see that this was really the greatest message to share. I thought "Why would I want to keep all this happiness I have in my life to myself?" This is why I am on my mission. To share this happiness that I have in my life with others. So that they too can feel the Holy Ghost in their lives. To see it change their hearts and their lives for the better. To have families be happy together and to tell them all that they can live together forever. This is Why I am a Mormon and always will be. My testimony is strengthened day by day by others around me and my experiences that I have had seeing it change lives.

How I live my faith

Well, I am currently living my faith by serving my mission in England! I will be doing this for 24 months. It is such an amazing experience. To be able to share this wonderful message with everyone and to bring families together forever is such a blessing. To see their lives and hearts change in front of you and to be able to have that journey with them. Makes me so happy to see that! The things we do as a missionary and living by this faith helps us grow mentally, physically and spiritually. There are things within our faith that help us live a better life and help us grow closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that Heavenly Father is preparing people out there to be seen by the missionaries. Being baptised and coming unto him is the most important thing we can do in our lives. I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be a missionary and to invite others to come unto him.
