Hi I'm Benjamin Mergens

I'm the youngest of eight children. I'm serving a full time mission for the LDS Church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a island in the Pacific Northwest. I grew up in a big family and we didn't really have many expensive toys. We all spent our time playing outside or hanging out inside. I spent a lot of time reading and playing basketball and baseball. I didn't grow up playing video games and what not, me and my siblings all had old fashion childhood fun. I grew up with the same life long friends and we went from grade to grade. Some friends were lost, and some were gained along the way, but all that came to an end. After my second year in high school I moved two states away to a big city, and my whole life changed. Now I'm a 2015 high school graduate, and I'm serving a in the Logan, Utah Mission for the next 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

At first it was because I was born into the church. I grew up being told everything I was learning was true by people I trusted, and I had no reason to think otherwise. Eventually over time I came to question whether or not I actually had a testimony of the church because I was just going off my parents testimonies. During my first year in high school a single situation made me decide on the spot if I really believed in the church, and I decided that I did. Ever since then my testimony has developed and grown more and more each day. I know that this is the true church of the Lord and I want to help others to come unto it.

How I live my faith

Out of the three groups for the young men, I was called to be the president of one and the leader of the young men for another. The first time was easier because I was in charge of the youngest boys only and I really didn't have to do much. My second time encompassed all the young men, and that made it much harder. It was my job not only to tell everyone what to do, but to help them understand why we needed to do it, and also to help them achieve it.
