Hi I'm Kelly Sheehan

I'm from Lakewood, CA, which is in Southern California, about a half an hour away from LA. I love the gospel and I'm a Mormon!!

About Me

I study Early Childhood Education, and I would like to become a kindergarten teacher. I love hanging out with my friends and doing fun things with my family. My favorite movie is The Princess Bride and my favorite foods are pizza and chocolate and peanut butter.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents made the choice to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ and took the time to teach me and my sister of the truthfulness of the gospel. I have chosen to continue to be a member of the Church because I have been so blessed by it throughout my life. I have seen God and Christ in my life so many times that I cannot count. I have a testimony of God's grace and the idea that He is willing to do things for me even when I don't deserve them. I have a testimony of the importance of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how it was for US, so that we can repent of our sins and eventually be resurrected at the Second Coming. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith, that he was a prophet, seer, and revelator, who reestablished the true gospel of Jesus Christ in the latter days. I also have a testimony of all the standard works (the Book of Mormon, the Bible, the Doctrine & Covenants, & the Pearl of Great Price), that they share true teachings that we can apply to our daily lives. I also have a testimony that our General Authorities and other church leaders and officers have been called of God and that they are worthy of their duties and that they are here to guide us in the right direction.

How I live my faith

Last year, I had a calling to work on family history and the indexing of names. Over the summer 2015, I was able to teach the children ages 3-11 during the second and third hours of our Sunday meetings. Now I am able to plan activities, aside from the Sunday meetings, for the women in my ward who are of young adult age.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Kelly Sheehan
"For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all that we do"-2 Nephi 25:23. This scripture can be misleading; Brad Wilcox quotes a passage from "Amazing Grace," in his book, "The Continuous Atonement," which gives a better definition. "We are saved by grace in spite of all we can do." He goes on to quote Brother Steven E. Robinson, who says that "we are saved by grace 'apart from all we can do,' or 'all we can do notwithstanding,' or even 'regardless of all we can do.' Another acceptable paraphrase of the verse [2 Nehpi 25:23] might read, 'We are still saved by grace, after all is said and done" (Believing Christ, pg. 91). Show more Show less
