Hi I'm Frannie Young

I was born and raised in Nebraska, on a cattle ranch owned by the church! I now study Exercise Science at BYU. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the great state of Nebraska, so I am a strong supporter of the Huskers and all things country. I lived and worked on the Rex Ranch (a beef cattle ranch), which is owned by the church. Some of my favorite things to do on the ranch are roping at brandings, moving cows on my horse, checking cows with my Dad, and getting to see the cute new calves. In high school, I participated in volleyball, basketball, and track, and I made it to state track four years. I ran the 400, 800, mile, and relays. I still love playing volleyball and basketball and going on runs. I love the outdoors and being active, so I am now majoring in Exercise Science at BYU! My hobbies include reading (I read anything and everything that isn't scary or gross!), writing, hiking, camping, playing sports, napping (necessity in college), spending time with family and friends, working out, and going to the temple every week, as well as church activities. I love sugary drinks and most food, and I love listening to country music and oldies rock, especially Fleetwood Mac. I have an older sister at BYU-I and my parents are still on the ranch in Nebraska, keeping the home fires burning! My parents and my sister are my greatest examples and I love them so much!

Why I am a Mormon

I love Christ and His gospel. I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; my dad was raised in an LDS family, but my Mom was a convert to the gospel. They are the most amazing examples. I don't know what I would do without the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life. It gives me a purpose, gives me hope, teaches me to love, and allows me to feel the love of my Savior. I have felt the Spirit confirm to me that this church is true and that my Heavenly Father loves me and knows me. I know that I have a purpose here on this earth, and I know that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father because I am one of His daughters. The church teaches that families are the most important unit on earth, and I know this to be true. The church teaches us to get an education, be self-sufficient, help others, keep our bodies and minds strong and healthy, and to keep the commandments. Christ's church is based on the first and great commandment, which is to love the Lord with all our heart, might, mind, and strength. The second commandment is to love our neighbors as ourselves, which is why the Church is so involved in Humanitarian aid and welfare services. I love that the church gives so much service and puts such a huge emphasis on love and families. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, my Savior, and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is to be an FHE (family home evening) Mom (group leader) for my ward in Provo! A group of young adults gets together every Monday evening and has a prayer, a spiritual thought, and usually a fun activity and snack! My co-leader and I set up this Monday evening activity every week for this group. I love being an FHE Mom; it has taught me how to reach out to others and be organized. I have learned so much from the young adults in my group. Outside of my calling, I try to live my faith by being an example and a help in other's lives. I attend the temple every week now that I am in Provo; the closest temple to me in Nebraska was four and a half hours (Denver, CO). Now I am within 30 minutes of three temples. Other than attending the temple, I try to serve others. I have found that I have some spare time this semester because I am not working, so I am trying to use my extra time wisely by helping my busy roommates and helping busy friends. Other ways I live my faith include sharing my testimony, reading my scriptures, and reading the words of the Lord's prophets and apostles that are on the Earth today. I live my faith by following spiritual promptings I receive because I have the gift of the Holy Ghost. I try to live my faith by being an example and as Matthew 5:16 says 'let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.'
