Hi I'm John

I'm a Mormon. Retired for 10 years. I love music. I have been playing saxophone since school and now play in a concert band.

About Me

I spent over 40 years in the banking industry and have been retired for 10 years. I love music. I played in my school band for 7 years and went on to play in dance bands for several years. I now play in a community concert band. I also love gardening, much of which I learned from my parent when I was growing up. To keep fit, I walk 4 or 5 mornings a week before breakfast for an hour.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a family of staunch Catholics, but for many years I never attended the Catholic church. I re-married when I was about 50 years old and married a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When we first started dating, I didn't know that she was a member of the LDS church. One day, she invited me to attend church with her, and the rest is history. I was baptised about a year later and about a year after that, we went to the Vancouver temple for the first time. One of the first things that attracted me to the church was the friendliness of the members and the emphasis on the family. The members were so supportive in helping me learn more about the church's doctrine. In addition to the bible, the Book of Mormon, which is the words of the ancient prophets

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday and attend various meetings with my wife. During the month, I also enjoy visiting other families each month that I have been assigned to give a spiritual message. I also provide support to them whenever it is requested. Throughout the year, my wife and I take part in several social activities that are organized by the church, such as the annual food drive, Christmas dinner, Bar B Q's, etc. Throughout the year, I periodically assist in cleaning the church building. I always look forward to travelling the our temple in Vancouver with other church members. I am presently the Stake Sunday School president and spend time visiting with other Sunday School leaders in their respective church buildings in the area. On occasion, I provide blessings to those who might be sick or who simply need spiritual support.
